Pumps
Twin-screw pumps
Demanding transfer duties across a wide viscosity range
Two intermeshing screws run on separate shafts with timing gears, so the rotors do not touch. This allows a broad viscosity range, tolerance to entrained gas and operation with fluids that would not lubricate the rotor set.
Typical applications
- Crude and product transfer
- Cargo and tank stripping duties
- Viscous residues and heavy fuel oil
- Multiphase and gas-entrained transfer
- Process transfer with variable media
Characteristics
- Wide viscosity and temperature window
- Tolerant to entrained gas and variable suction
- Reversible flow direction in suitable executions
- Non-contacting rotors reduce wear on the screw set
Where to be careful
- More complex construction than a three-screw pump
- Timing gear and bearings require correct lubrication
- Abrasives still reduce clearance life
What we need to select or replace it
Send whatever exists. Missing values can usually be derived from the installation or the nameplate.
Common wear parts
The components most often replaced on this pump type.
Screw sets
Matched power and idler rotor sets for screw pumps.
Mechanical seals
Cartridge and component seals, with face and elastomer options.
Bearings
Rolling and sleeve bearings with the matching retaining parts.
Couplings
Flexible couplings, elements and coupling guards.
Pump internals
Shafts, sleeves, wear plates, balance pistons and fasteners.
